In December of 2006, at the occasion of issuing the monographic Arhitektura journal devoted to Ivan Vitić, the publisher of this monograph, CAA, launched the initiative for the renovation of one of Vitić’s most important realisations, his favourite Komiža Culture Centre on the island of Vis, the former Military Culture Centre from 1961.

The aim of this action is to gather financial means for thorough renovation of the structure and the restoration of its original condition. Following the model used by a similar world-famous Internet portal, this action will take place on a webpage designed specially for this purpose, divided in sections by a grid. By donating 1,000 kuna for each of 1,000 squares, one virtual square will change its present black and white appearance into a colour image of the supposed future condition after renovation. By sliding the cursor over the image you can read the sponsor’s name.

The members of this project’s Organisational Board are: Tonka Ivčević (Mayor of Komiža), Đino Vitić (architect’s family), Saša Randić (CAA), Miljenko Bernfest (CAA), Nenad Kondža (CAA), Ante Mardešić (SAS), Jurica Jelavić (SAS), and Dinko Peračić (SAS). According to first estimates, the renovation of the Centre will cost approximately a million kuna.
