PPAG/AT

PPAG works with and in different disciplines and dimensions of architecture, from furniture design to urban planning, and deliberately does not specialise. The list so far includes a unique climatic wind tunnel, a samadhi bath, a night club, stage and exhibition design, shop design, furniture, comfort stations, different sorts of housing projects such as attic conversions, low cost houses, and subsidised housing at a large scale. Mostly new buildings, but also conversions, which always have to be a new interpretation of the existing. We are committed to research and progress in architecture. We handle every project as prototype, based on our experience we try something new. We are interested in the process, we always try to ameliorate a project on its way to realization. New requirements arising in the design process sometimes offer opportunities to make something better or even to change directions. We are interested in methods, eg. visualisation, and we are convinced that all of this has an influence on the result. Architecture is far more than the addition of the components. Architects build up complexity and atmosphere from nothing. That is why we work out a grammar, an algorithm, that the building has to follow in every part.

Architecture is a language. So it is possible to read our buildings. Our aim is not to enlighten, we like the idea of different levels of comprehension, depending who you are, and we also like the idea of leaving a secret that can be discovered gradually. We believe in the importance of personal experiences as an influence on our work. We do not believe in separation between profession and life. We try not to make always the same mistakes, we prefer to make new mistakes
